In my opinion it's all about perspective, a fuel tank gets filled and then the contents gest used up and refilled. He was up front about the slipping into gear though.ĭumb question - What is the difference between a tank and a reservoir? I just ordered 3 filters from wix even though I don't know if they have been changed or not. I saw two new pretty white filters and the glass bowl/strainer for the fuel was changed. But I don't know if he actually went to the extra trouble to change any of the other filters. Seemed odd that it was and I asked him about it and he got offended saying I called him a liar! Man, I didn't mean anything by it I swear, It seems with my tractor its the same as well. I checked the engine oil dipstick and the oil was black as night. I didn't know this guy from Adam, but I took his word for it. When I bought the loader the owner serviced the loader himself changing fluids and visible filters that I could see without taking off any guards. I would love to hear thoughts/suggestions as I am not heavy equipment savvy yet and would love to learn from some of the professionals on here! Thanks everyone It's a beast of a machine and don't want to run it when I could fix a small problem that could inadvertently lead to a bigger problem. I love this old power shift and want to get it to the way it should be running.
CASE 850 DOZER TRANS FILTER AND SUCTION FILTER NUMBER FULL
Both have fresh fluids and are both at the full line. Someone suggested that it could be something as simple as a clogged screen? Would this be the suction filter or charging pump? Do I need to drop the belly pan to get to this? I checked the fluid levels both in the hydraulic tank (operator cab) and in the big breather dipstick on the passenger side under the floorboard access door. The converter temp is not even a quarter of the way in the green. All of the temperature gauges are operating and normal. You can hear it squeal a little when going into gear.

So basically what happens is after about an hour or so I will have to start tapping the gas to get it into gear. The seller told me that after it warms up a while it takes a second or two to go into gear. I bought this 1983 1450 loader about 6 mos ago. This is my first piece of heavy equipment so please b kind! I want my trans to remain as cool as possible while getting the most power out of it safely, I hope everyone Understands.Just joined the forum today. Sounds like a lot, but if i know its possible i will do it. Also, is there an oil cooler for trans oil? Does anybody know if its possible for me to add an oil cooler to the transmission? if i can, i will buy a very big oil cooler, with its own fan and put it in a custom spot. Didn't know if their is a proper hydraulic tans fluid for it. i had it turned up last winter, so i never had a problem with the trans temps getting high until it started getting warm outside. I did have the motor turned up a while back, which I'm sure affects my power train temps. I am sure its fine but if there is a way, i would like to keep my oil as cool as possible to get maximum trans pressure so things last longer (especially the clutches or what ever) if you know what i mean. there is green, then yellow then red on the gage, about 45 minutes of heavy dozing, it rests between the green and yellow exactly. after about 45 minutes of dozing with it, "clearing forestry for farming", the converter temps get king of up there. If any one knows the correct oil that would be great, i wouldn't mind changing it again. i kept having something bug me about it because a long long time ago i thought i read somewhere about dozers requiring a special type of fluid for the trannies otherwise you could burn your clutches?. I got a Case 850c, i changed all the fluids in it before i started doing heavy land clearing with it, and i used regular tractor hydraulic fluid for the transmission can converter.
